UI/UX-Designing

Today’s world is infused into digitalization and technology. There is a bizarre increase in mobile apps for every domain either it be social media or commuting. Everyone wants a quick and straightforward solution to their problem. They don’t want to spend too much of their time surfing websites or mobile applications. How will you maximize your user engagement in milliseconds?  How could we think out of the box? What makes your app different from others? And that’s where UI/UX comes in.

We should first know what exactly is UI & UX before switching onto their importance in mobile and web apps.

UI Designing

UI stands for user interface design. It basically refers to the look and feel of the application. It aids in creating a relationship between the user and the application. That’s why it’s essential to have a good UI Design.

UX Designing

UX stands for user experience. UX means the set of actions on the application that helps in examining the user experience. It is the core key to user satisfaction. User satisfaction depends upon the level of accessibility and usability designer has provided to the application.

UI and UX: Are the two same?

Most of the people swap UI with UX and that’s the most common mistake. Let’s understand their difference.

UI mainly focuses on the look of your application. It is the process of improving the interactivity and presentation of your web or mobile app. Being a UI designer you need to have creative and convergent thinking, so you can improve its look and contribute to better user interaction with the application. With the unique visualization of UI designer, we can have every screen page, buttons and other visual elements of the app look intuitive. UI Designer must also have basic knowledge of the tools in order to create a better app UI plus keeping in mind the user’s requirements. Tools that designer basically use are Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and sketch.

Whereas UX is all about creating the basic skeleton of any application. It works on wireframing of an application and structuring all its components appropriately to create the user flow. The thought process of a UX Designer must be both a mix of critical and creative thinking. UX design is more of a human-centric design an enhancement of user’s experience is the main goal here. User’s needs and research play a significant role here. Usability testing must also be done frequently after the basic skeleton of the app has been prepared because that helps in cross-checking all the components.

So I hope you have understood the thin line difference between UI and UX, but understanding its significance in the application development is the king here. So let’s go ahead to have a clear concept of the pillars in both the process.

Differnce-Between-UI-UX-Designing

Elements of the UI Designing:

Visual Design: UI Designer must have a strong creative visualization of the application as it would ultimately lead to enhancing the user interaction.

Colors: The colors used in the designing an application must be theme-based. The designer must use around maximum 4-5 colors. For Android apps, you can follow material design colors. Whereas for iOS you need to choose the human interface guidelines.

Typography: Use of one Font is a must-have while designing an app. We can play around the font styles but to maintain an aesthetic look, the designer must focus on using only one Font throughout.

Layout: The designer must also pay attention to space between the elements and try to keep the clutter as neat as possible. The user must not get confused through layout, each and every element must acknowledge its action.

Elements of the UX Designing:

Research: Designer must also have knowledge about user requirements and perceptions. This aids designer to better coordinate the product according to user’s behavior. It is also vital for the designer to have the full knowledge about the market trends to sell the product in the marketplace.

Consistency: Consistency is the key and UX designer must maintain it. The designer must keep the style consistent so that there is no need to adjust the user requirement again and again.

Prototypes and Wireframing: UX designer must develop wireframes and task flows based on user’s demands. The Prototype must be interactive enough to maintain transparency between the various teams which would finally contribute to better user interaction. The more clear the prototype/wireframe is, better is user satisfaction.

Intuitive: Every user interaction must convey the correct information to the user. In Fact, every user action must be acknowledged, so that user has a clear idea of the app flow.

Takeaways:

The main goal of every business is to increase the sales of its product and growth, UI/UX designer plays a vital role to achieve this goal.  In this cut-throat competition of technology, the look and feel of your application/product should be unique and consistent. This can be done with interaction design in which a user interacts with the app. Both UI and UX process plays a crucial role in the application development, thus its the main responsibility of the designer to make sure that user navigates through the app in an efficient manner.
